Here’s a quick drawing for some aluminum bomber seats.
These are made from .090″ 5052-H32 Aluminum.
Use the construction lines on the drawing to note where the sides and back roll up. Roll up the edges with a 2″ radius; roll the back up with a 3″ radius to about 60degrees. After you roll the back up, the sides should overlap; rivet them together.
You’re on your own with mounting them into whatever deathtrap /hot rod you’re building.
I made these up for someone recently. I thought they came out cool.
The pics show them a little darker than they really are. They’re on Light Grey Avery vinyl. Let me know if you want some.
The TDI cup was a pretty cool 1-make (duh) series that featured rookie drivers and was televised almost like a reality-TV type show. The cars ended up being purchased by New Jersey Motorsports park after the series ended. From what I know, you can rent one and fling it around the ‘Lightning’ course for a few hours.
I was on VW Vortex back in 2010 and someone was asking if anybody knew anything about 3d Printing. One thing lead to another and I made up a couple of quick SolidWorks models and printed them out for him.
I wish I knew the size of the cake it was going on… it’s a *little* big. 😉
Edit: 8/25/14: So a few years after this initial post, I’ve had a few people interested in these for their wedding cake! Here was a slightly different one I did about 14 months ago:
Contact me if you’re interested. I’ll need to customize the inscription for you.
I could also sell you just the .stl model if you know someone who has a printer or if you want it made out of something fancy. Shapeways offers polished Gooooold if you’re looking to spend a few grand!
