THE BOMB!

Here's the newest toy... Its a 1965 Bug that I bought on New years eve. The car is absolutely rust free! It was driven here from CA! It looks like the car WAS a nice custom at one point, then it was (very) neglected. It was red from the factory, then customized in the early 80's fashion. Welded trim holes, shaved blinkers, rosi headlights, custom velour 2 tone interior, formuling france steering wheel, one piece windows and bright teal paint. Whoever owned it after that really neglected it. It has been spraypainted flat black- inside and out, the bumpers were hanging on by zipties and 'licence plate' hardware, and the front link/king pins are SO worn you can grab the top of the tire and get about 1" of play! The car was questionably lowered, too. The back is so low, I don't think that the rear wheel bearings get ANY fluid, and the front beam is VERY low...but there are NO adjusters! I'm banking on the 'remove the leaves' method... So far, the only thing Ive done to it is remove the front bumper and clean up the interior. As you can see, the weather is not perfect! Well, here it is... I'll keep you posted!

The Bomb and Raul's 67 camper...

The Bomb, a '59 Euro (for sale), and the nose of a failed Super Choptop aka: The Slug...

DUMPED! hahaha! This car drags the center tunnel!

Jan. 20 1999:
Finally got it into 'The Hill': Raul Fernandez's secret shop.
Took out the dead starter and dropped in a good used one. It fired right up! It sounded like the world was ending, but it RAN! On Saturday, I'll go and tune it up.

Jan. 23 1999:
Went to 'The Hill' and set the valves and points... it runs much smoother now...
The front end problem that we thought was bad king/link pins turned out to be SUPER loose axle nuts. YIKES!
After I adjusted them and adjusted the brakes a little, I decided to make the trek home in it.
Aparently, the wipers knew it was raining and decided to quit. All the connections are good, and the motor was getting power... I guess the motor just died mid-sweep...
The only casualty on the drive home was the driver side running board. The rear bolt holding it on let go and the board was being dragged creating a beautiful shower of sparks!

Well, its home now and I'm sure the neighbors aren't happy!

Jan. 31 1999:
Well after only one month ownership, the bomb has moved on.
Bill Federer, from PA is the new owner. He sounds like he'll be a good owner, I hope him and his dad give the car the makeover it deserves.
I didn't get to do much work at all to it. I never degreased the motor or even vaccumed it out.
Here's the last photos of the bomb that I have... Bill- if you have some pics- send 'em this way!

If you look in there, you can see Bill...

GOOD BYE!
